                          • Republished press release entitled "Visualization” of pollution distribution at the decommissioning site with a 3D map – understanding invisible pollution in a virtual space and reducing worker exposure. The release was issued by the Japan Atomic Energy Agency detailing their innovative use of Kaarta Stencil integrated with a special camera to visualize radioactive substances in 3D.This is but one great example of Kaarta technology being combined with other sensors to create a 3D thematic map. Kaarta recently received a patent covering our novel approach to fuse data captured with slam systems with data from other sensors to measure and localize sensed data in the scanned environment. The post Japan Atomic Energy Agency 3D Map of Contaminated Areas appeared first on KAARTA.

                          • Andrew Schwartz, Geophysicist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers joined the Kaarta team at Intergeo to present the findings of two reports examining the use of SLAM technology for geophysical mapping in GPS-denied areas and steep terrain. Watch a recording of the presentation in this post. Both full reports, USACE SLAM POSITIONING SYSTEM ASSESSMENT published in January 2020 and SLAM POSITIONING DEMONSTRATIONS FOR DYNAMIC GEOPHYSICAL MAPPING AT MILITARY MUNITIONS RESPONSE SITES published in August 2020 are available to download. The post USACE SLAM Tech for Geophysical Mapping in GPS-denied Areas & Steep Terrain appeared first on KAARTA.

                          • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers published the SLAM Positioning Demonstrations for Dynamic Geophysical Mapping at Military Munitions Response Sites report in August 2020. The team performed three demonstrations for the purpose of:1. Validating that SLAM technology performs as well as currently used RTS positioning technology on a dynamic geophysical mapping system,2. Proving that high quality digital geophysical data can be acquired on steep slopes and then adequately positioned to render logical interpretations,3. Demonstrating a proof of concept method to indicate the presence or absence of a metallic source in, or under, tree root balls. The post USACE SLAM Positioning Demonstrations for DGM appeared first on KAARTA.
